Market in Alcanar is the proposal to develop a new market and goods exchange platform.
Alcanar, Tarragona. Spain 2009.
Market management as something else.
The project seeks to create a center, compacted and ordered ‘plaza’.
The compaction of the space qualifies the installation, agglutinating the program around
Several light ‘patios’ (climatic) and at the edge of the building, both exterior and interior so that the user rubs the exterior and the sensations in the use of the rooms, so that it resembles as much as possible to be in an outer space.
These routes work as a sensory journey, fasting from cross visions, to the decompression of spaces when buying or walking that can announce the spaces through texture, smell, light, temperature.
The yard as a dialogue.
The different light chimneys of the building allow us to welcome the city from the tangential circulations, route it inside, protect it from the rain, build a walkable “exterior-interior” space or a patio that regulates Climate building. It’s interesting to capture direct light from the outside and project it indirectly inside, allowing uses, schedules and circulations in the daily becoming of the centre.
Wrapping as braided textures.
The border that borders the exterior is built on tactile and lively elements that stimulate the
perception. Light elements that filter. Understanding here the material not as a simple substance of tectonic character, but as a relationship between different subjects – among them, the intangibles – as light, air, temperature.
A double skin system. Vegetable elements – vines and / or wood of recycling, branches of the seasonal pruning promoted from the municipality of Alcanar- will serve as a base to the wrapper. Complex sensations are pursued with simple, cheap and understandable mechanisms.
